Our guitar teachers teach rock, blues, metal, country and classical guitar lessons on electric and acoustic guitars. Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading, and theory. We balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson you are challenged with a new technical or theory concept, but always end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song.

Our drum instructors will teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues and many other styles. Drum language can be complex and our instructors will challenge any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. All drummers may bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons and theory is encouraged.

Violin, and by ear or by sheet music — for students as young as five. Warm, patient teachers who love working with kids, teens, and adults alike.
Our string instructors will teach all styles of music, from learning to play by ear to reading music. If you want to play classical music or the fiddle, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval. Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Our violin teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children and teens and adults!
Book a LessonMusic FunTime is a weekly 30-minute class for toddlers to 7 year olds, offering an engaging curriculum that includes music theory, rhythm, note values, and activities like playing instruments, keyboard, singing, and movement. Studies show that understanding rhythm and cadence improves mathematical skills, making learning enjoyable and effective.

We have almost 30 music teachers, all with either college training or professional performance experience. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. With at least three music teachers for almost every instrument, we are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs. The School of Music has a proven track record of offering quality music, piano, guitar, voice, singing and drum lessons in Willow Glen, San Jose year round. Our full time mission is teaching music lessons trusted by over a 1,000 families for almost 20 years.
We have the most spacious and parent friendly waiting area in Willow Glen, San Jose. Instead of waiting in someone's living room or a music retail store showroom afterthought, our clients enjoy a spacious, professional parent's lounge with comfortable chairs, kids toys, Wi-Fi, magazines and bottled water service. We also provide large observation windows on every door so that you can watch your child's lesson while you wait. Or if you prefer you can sit in on their lesson anytime you like.
Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for music lessons, including amps, stereos, full drum kits with pads, keyboards, pianos and more. All you need to bring is your instrument. We have spent thousands of dollars on our studio to offer soundproofing and large observation windows.
We are one of the only music schools in San Jose that offers free recitals with a grand piano in a first class professional recital hall. Every parent just wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it, is to have their child participate in a recital. In January and June many of our students choose to perform in our biannual recitals. We hold these at prestigious auditoriums. We even provide a red carpet and step and repeat banner to make it fun!
We are the only music school in downtown Willow Glen that offers professional customer service for their students. Many music studio desks are staffed by the teacher/owner or more commonly an answering machine. We have office team members who are available at the front desk to assist our clients quickly and professionally.
We are the only music schools in Willow Glen, San Jose that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests. A few other schools offer trophies and certificates, but none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool "Musical Ladder®" wristbands that they can show off to their friends. The Musical Ladder® is our unique method of music education that you can only get here. More importantly, when our students have a test coming up, they practice more, their parents are proud, their teachers are proud, and everybody wins. We also specialize in music lessons for adults.

The School of Music does not require semester minimums for lessons. Every student here is on a month-to-month basis. If you are ready to start, you have nothing to lose as we only want students who truly want to be here and we will not commit you to a long term contract.

There's no single answer — with regular practice, a basic level of playing usually comes together in a few months. Most of our students stick with lessons long-term simply because they enjoy the progress and the process.
Absolutely. Your teacher can give you simple ways to support practice at home — even just making sure exercises happen a set number of times a day helps. Many parents also sit in on lessons to get a feel for proper form and sound.
$47 for a 30-minute private lesson held once a week, plus a one-time $35 registration fee per student. No long-term contract — everything runs month-to-month. All fees must be paid by pre-authorized debit or credit cards.
